The 21st Chinese International Congress of Vascular Medicine, or CCVM2024, and the 19th Asian-Pacific International Congress of Vascular Health and Aging kicked off on June 15 in Xindu district of Chengdu city, Sichuan province. More than 100 experts and scholars from around the world gathered at the event to explore new fields and directions in vascular health.

The three-day conference, themed "community management of vascular health", featured multiple keynote speakers and sub-forums conducted both online and offline. The opening ceremony was attended by Gianfranco Parati, president-elect of the World Hypertension League, and Roland Asmar, founding president of the International Society of Vascular Health. Experts and scholars from Germany, Italy, France and other countries had in-depth discussions on topics such as cardiovascular disease prevention strategies, diagnostic techniques, treatment methods and rehabilitation management.

"Choosing 'community management of vascular health' as the theme reflects a deep understanding of the current global prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and the growing attention to vascular health," said Xing Ruoqi, deputy director of the National Health Commission's department of medical administration. He emphasized that vascular health directly affects quality of human life and communities can play a crucial role in vascular health management and prevention.

In his keynote speech, Parati highlighted the importance of vascular health in global public health and called for enhanced international cooperation to tackle vascular diseases.

A representative for Xindu district, Wang Peijian, an expert from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College, delivered a presentation titled The Safety and Efficacy of Adrenal Artery Embolization in the Treatment of Idiopathic Hyperaldosteronism. He said that the conference injects vitality into Xindu's ambition to become a new hub for medical and health services in northern Chengdu, attracting more medical resources and fostering international and domestic collaborations.

In recent years, significant progress has been made in vascular health research, with new technologies and methods - such as big data and artificial intelligence - providing more effective means for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. However, challenges remain in controlling risk factors and exploring new treatment methods.

The conference featured specialized academic forums, including the CCVM-ISVH Forum, the CCVM-AHA&ATVB, the digital vascular health management forum and the primary medical service model forum, where the latest clinical trial results were released.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, and a Sino-French cardiovascular medicine exchange forum was held concurrently to promote cultural exchanges as part of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Athanase Benetos, a professor from Nancy University Hospital and former president of the International Society of Vascular Health, praised Xindu's open and inclusive environment, which supported the successful conference.

"Stepping into Xindu for the first time, I was captivated by its vibrancy. As the host district, Xindu has demonstrated firm support and enthusiasm for the development of medical endeavors," said Parati.
