Fuzhou's Yongtai county acts to revitalize plum sector

However, in the past, the plum industry in the county mainly focused on dried fruits and candied plums, using traditional preservation methods that heavily relied on salt and sugar, resulting in large amounts of wastewater that was difficult to treat. Moreover, fresh fruit was used as the primary raw material for processing, leading to low economic benefits and minimal profits for farmers.
To address the problems, Yongtai county has implemented policies and measures in recent years, to revitalize the plum sector, focusing on adjusting and optimizing the industrial structure, said Zhang Yanhui, head of the Rural Industry Department of the Yongtai Rural Revitalization Development Center.
The measures aim to integrate the industry supply chain, improve primary production, deepen secondary production, expand tertiary production and boost the overall quality of fresh fruit cultivation and sales proportions, Zhang said.
