Consul-General calls on more partnerships between UK firms, Henan
Dominic McAllister, Consul-General of the British Consul-General in Wuhan, called for more partnerships and joint ventures across various sectors between UK companies and Central China's Henan province.
The envoy made his remarks at the 2024 Cooperation and Exchange Conference between Henan Province and Multinational Corporations – held in Zhengzhou, capital city of Henan province on Sept 25.
"Having the growth that you have is an indicator that things are going well," he said.
"Admittedly there are challenges, but we have British companies that hopefully can work with you in areas that you are interested in – like in retail, high technology and green technologies – to help the development of the province," McAllister said.
Highlighting the longstanding interactions between the UK and Henan, he referred to the successful trade exchanges in advanced manufacturing, beauty products and professional services.
One example that he noted was Logan Energy, a UK-based leader in clean energy solutions.
At the previous year's conference, the group signed an agreement with Henan Lanxing New Energy Technology Co to establish a production line for hydraulic piston hydrogen compressors.
"We are very interested admittedly in green technologies. Green technologies are the future," the envoy said.
Looking forward, McAllister stressed the importance of links. "We need to kind of strengthen links between the UK and Henan," he said.
"These are people-to-people links, cultural links, student links and education links," McAllister concluded.
