Fujian's Yongtai county embraces winter plum blossom season with cultural festivity

A Chinese culture-themed event embracing the winter plum blossom kicked off on Jan 17 in the Wenchengwan Plum Forest, in the Gelin township of Yongtai county, located in East China's Fujian province, and ran to Jan 19.

A large number of visitors flocked to the event to take in beautiful moments and to witness the grace and elegance of the plum blossoms.

On the opening day, master craftsmen from Fujian joined in the event at the intangible cultural heritage creative product market, showcasing a variety of plum blossom-themed crafts and skills. 

Their creations were not only full of creativity, but also displayed exceptional craftsmanship.

Yongtai is renowned as the "hometown of Chinese plum blossoms". With a long recorded history of cultivating green plums, the county is currently home to over 60,000 mu (4,000 hectares) of plum orchards, yielding more than 70,000 metric tons annually, making it one of the main plum-producing regions in Fujian.

In recent years, Yongtai county has vigorously supported the development of the plum industry, utilizing it as a new vehicle for cultural and tourism economic growth. 

The folks there have been promoting the development of new formats, such as plum blossom sightseeing, rural experiences, cultural creativity events and study tours.
