Shopping for nianhuo — special goods to celebrate Chinese New Year — is an important tradition for Chinese people ahead of the holiday. On Friday, three days before Chinese New Year's Eve, Hehuachi Market in Jinniu district of Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province in Southwest China, is brimming with festive items such as lanterns, couplets, and red envelopes.
Recently, a Chinese New Year shopping festival titled Rongbeihaobasi, meaning "comfortable life in northern Chengdu", took place in Hehuachi subdistrict. Hundreds of booths were set up in locations such as Dacheng Market and Hongzheng Square, offering an array of New Year goods and trendy products that embody Sichuan culture. The goods spanned various categories, including clothing, handicrafts, home textiles, as well as cultural and creative products.
