State-owned company supporting bilateral economic cooperation
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has entered its second decade, advancing toward deeper and broader development. The Saindak Copper-Gold Project of MCC Tongsin Resources Ltd, or MCCT, has been closely following the overall development strategy of China and Pakistan, continuously investing in the construction of Pakistan's northern border areas and establishing a long-term presence in Pakistan.
This commitment supports the ambitious vision of the Belt and Road Initiative and the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. In recent years, leveraging the stable operation of the Saindak project, MCCT has continuously promoted the development of the East Ore Body of Saindak and successfully expanded a new concentrator with an annual production capacity of 2.75 million metric tons. This represents a sincere effort to actively co-build the great project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The renewal of the lease contract to continue operating the Saindak project, which involves developing the East Ore Body with relatively poor resources compared to those it has developed in the past, underscores MCCT's commitment to the developmental vision of both China and Pakistan as a Chinese State-owned enterprise, and it exemplifies MCCT's dedication to fulfilling its social responsibilities.
A glimpse into Saindak's ridiant night.
After two decades of operation, the Saindak project has reached a stage where only the East Ore Body, characterized by an extremely low ore grade, remains unexploited. Coupled with severely outdated production machinery and the escalating public security challenges, withdrawing from development seemed to be an economically viable choice.
Nevertheless, MCCT, undeterred by these challenges, opted to persevere with the Saindak Copper-Gold Project in 2022, recognizing that maintaining the cooperation and ensuring the employment of the Pakistani workers would help promote the stability of the frontier regions. Over the past 20 years, under the company's commitment to "build and benefit the local area", it has not only cultivated a large talent pool for the non-ferrous metallurgy industry, but also brought about dramatic improvements in the lives of surrounding residents through providing free electricity and water, free education and medical support, stable employment, and poverty alleviation policies.
The Saindak Copper-Gold Project incorporates state-of-the-art ore processing technologies.
The 275 Expansion Project at the MCCT Saindak Copper-Gold Project exemplifies the project's exceptional management and cutting-edge technology, underscoring MCCT's commitment to long-term local development. Following thorough scientific assessments, the company has invested in a new beneficiation production system with a capacity of 2.75 million tons per year, enhancing its mining technology and maximizing resource utilization. This strategic expansion not only boosts the existing production capacity but also solidifies the foundation for economic and social progress, as well as the betterment of living standards in the region.
Looking forward, MCCT will actively embrace the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor initiative, concentrating on mining cooperation and development, and will contribute its strength to deepening China-Pakistan economic cooperation.
