Nearly 400 players from around the globe gathered at the Yixiang International Banquet Hall in Longwan district, Wenzhou on April 9, to begin the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour MT700. The competition, authorized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and hosted by the Chinese Tennis Association, runs from April 10 to 13 at the Wenzhou International Tennis Center.
To welcome the participants and show Wenzhou's cultural heritage, organizers hosted a banquet highlighting the distinctive Wenzhou cuisine. Known for its "light oil, light thickening, and refined knife skills," Wenzhou cuisine emphasizes freshness and elegance. Indian player Bhardwaj, praised the renowned Wenzhou fish cake as living up to its reputation.
Preparations for the banquet spanned a month, featuring a curated menu of 12 signature dishes. Highlights included Ayi fish ball soup and Yixiang fish cakes, based on recipes passed down for 50 years, which delighted the international guests.
In April 2024, the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour MT400 Wenzhou event took place in Longwan. After the tournament, the ITF invited players to rate the event on several key factors, including overall satisfaction. Thanks to excellent feedback, the Wenzhou stop received the 2024 ITF Masters Tour Tournament Recognition Award.
There were 23 ITF World Tennis Masters Tour events held across China. Among them, only two—Wenzhou (MT400) and Shijiazhuang (MT100)—won this important award. Wenzhou's recognition shows the event's quality and reputation on an international stage.
