Rice fields and coffee fuel autumn rural tourism in Jinyun

Golden rice waves and the aroma of coffee fill the air in Dongfang town in Jinyun county of Lishui, Zhejiang province.

The vast rice fields not only signal harvest season but have also created new leisure opportunities by blending pastoral landscapes with modern experiences. Visitors can take photos on the ridges, enjoy coffee, and admire the views.

At the heart of the rice fields, the Sunset Cycling cafe, which opened in October 2024, is often full. Its design integrates with the natural environment, making it a new highlight for local rural tourism.

The cafe's drinks feature local specialties. The rice scented latte uses fresh local rice, the dried Chinese cabbage salty mocha is topped with local preserved mustard greens, and the roasted sweet potato latte uses Jinyun sweet potatoes. These creative beverages allow visitors to appreciate local agricultural characteristics.

The rural greenway in front of the cafe offers natural scenery, cycling paths, and coffee, attracting many cycling enthusiasts.

This rice field coffee concept provides a fresh rural experience and has injected new vitality into Dongfang town's tourism.

The owner of the cafe reported that recent visitor numbers have surged, with daily visitors reaching four times the usual amount. Revenue exceeded 400,000 yuan ($56,190.80), a 300 percent increase, boosting sales of local agricultural products.
