Linde Hydraulics (China) announces its renaming to LHY Powertrain, at the SDHI Weichai Power Global Partners' Conference on Sunday. CHINA DAILY
At the SDHI Weichai Power Global Partners' Conference on Saturday, Weichai Power announced that its group member, Linde Hydraulics (China), has been renamed LHY Powertrain — a move signaling its strategic shift for future market operations.
As a century-old brand inheriting German technological DNA, Linde Hydraulics was founded in Munich in 1904. It relocated to Aschaffenburg in 1907 and developed the world's first hydrostatically driven vehicle. In the 1980s, it launched the Series 02 pump motor.
Following its strategic restructuring by Weichai, Linde Hydraulics embarked on a path of global development through Sino-German cooperation.
Weichai Power set up an intelligent hydraulic manufacturing plant in Germany to create advanced research and development platforms and automated production lines. Later, Weichai Power invested 2 billion yuan ($280.8 million) in building a hydraulic R&D and manufacturing base in Weifang, Shandong province, to promote the commercialization of key hydraulic technologies.
According to Weichai Power, the renaming of LHY Powertrain is not only an inheritance of Linde Hydraulics' century-old technology but a strategic transformation for the future. The letter "L", retaining the classic wavy element of Linde Hydraulics, is optimized into a symmetrical structure, carrying the century-old brand history; "HY" is derived from the first two letters of "Hydraulics", highlighting LHY's core business; the word "Powertrain" below conveys that Linde Hydraulics (China) has been transformed from a single hydraulic component supplier to a system solution provider.
"The new LHY Powertrain brand demonstrates our commitment to the synergy of global resources and working together as a team. We are breaking down silos to integrate our R&D teams in China and Germany into a global R&D force," said Milos Vukovic, head of the LHY R&D Center.
Through years of collaborative development, LHY Powertrain now has four production bases worldwide, eight subsidiaries in Europe, the United States and China, and more than 60 sales and service partners in more than 50 countries. To date, LHY has obtained 593 patents, including 106 invention patents.
