ICH enters Xi'an campus
On Oct 23, No 51 Primary School of Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone and the Shaanxi Cultural Communication Association brought the Wind and Percussion Ensemble of Xi'an — known as the "living fossil of ancient Chinese music", to the campus, unveiling the mysteries of this intangible cultural heritage (ICH) for the children.

Artists perform the Wind and Percussion Ensemble of Xi'an at the school.
During the event, more than 20 distinctive instruments were showcased, presenting nine musical pieces to the students. "I used to only see these traditional musical instruments in textbooks, but today I finally heard them for real!"

During the interactive session, students took to the stage and, guided by experienced artists, attempted to hit the drum and play the flute. A student said, "I used to think that the Wind and Percussion Ensemble of Xi'an was very ancient and far away from us. But today, after holding the drumstick and feeling its vibration, I realized how interesting and beautiful it is!"

The Shaanxi Cultural Communication Association awarded the school the plaque of "Shaanxi Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Education Practice Base", marking the long-term cooperation between the two parties developing local and school-based curricula, establishing of student societies, and training teachers, and advancing the Wind and Percussion Ensemble of Xi'an from simply "entering the campus" to "stationed on campus".
