Ningxia's Shizuishan awakens industrial memories with music

A music festival takes place on at the Dawukou Coal Washing Plant Industrial Site Park in Shizuishan. 

A music festival took place on September 2 and 3, 2023, at the Dawukou Coal Washing Plant Industrial Site Park in Shizuishan, Ningxia. 

The festival featured performances by 12 bands and musicians, including Donglihuoche Band, Hao Yun, and Ye Shirong.

With the melodies of classic songs filling the air, visitors and audiences traveled back  in time to the 1980s. Surrounded by the weathered industrial site, they immersed themselves in nostalgia, recalling the spirit of hard work and fearless youth.

Intangible cultural heritage sugar painting is showcased at the festival.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage Market showcased over ten inheritors of various representative intangible cultural heritage projects, selling products such as gourd pyrography, paper cutting, sand painting, and traditional pottery.

Food-related intangible cultural heritage items like sugar painting and traditional brewing were also popular, offering citizens and tourists a journey that combined an appreciation for intangible cultural heritage with art, culture, and interactive experiences.

Through vibrant melodies, the music festival told the story of this historic industrial city's hard work and entrepreneurship. With dynamic performances, it showcased Dawukou's grandeur and warm hospitality to visitors, highlighting the city's unique industrial identity.
