Journalists from China’s major news agencies as well as local media were invited to visit the Liupan Mountains in Guyuan city, Ningxia Hui autonomous region on July 30. While there, they got a first-hand look at the innovative way in which one group of villagers is promoting revolutionary heritage. 

In Yangjiadian Folk Custom Village, vibrant red stars, Red Army sculptures, and murals depicting the history of the Communist Party of China can be seen everywhere, making the village stand out strikingly amidst the green mountains and trees. 

The village has a range of boutique B&Bs that combine traditional style with modern comfort, making it an ideal place to experience rural life, savor local delicacies, enjoy pastoral scenery and immerse yourself in folk culture.

The aim is to build a tourist attraction with the theme of "Red Stars Shine on Yangjiadian, the Red Army Village beneath Liupan Mountain". To this end, the village has established six boutique B&Bs and 23 agritainment venues, helping 27 households to develop unique dining experiences, folk accommodation, and sales of eco-friendly and cultural tourism products. The initiative promotes the dissemination of the revolutionary spirit of the CPC in harmony with rural revitalization.

Additionally, Hongya Old Alley is one of the best-preserved traditional villages in Longde county, retaining distinct historical and revolutionary cultural imprints.

In recent years, the city of Guyuan has leveraged its revolutionary legacy to promote a unique brand, strengthening infrastructure and expanding its tourism market. The city has connected and integrated its red tourism resources, implementing a "Red +" integrated development strategy. This includes creating specialized study tour routes and promoting the deep integration of CPC culture with tourism, intangible cultural heritage and creative products.
