Nantang Lane in Xingqing district, Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, features vibrant and captivating murals on the walls near the old railway. These artworks range from nostalgic recreations of formerly everyday items to playful and expressive cartoon animals.
A green train is even depicted climbing to the peak of Helan Mountain, compelling passersby to slow down and admire the view. Workers have transformed the cement "rail ties" along the tracks with colorful paint, creating a vivid rainbow railway that residents of the old town can delight in.

According to Li Ying, director of the Qianjin Neighborhood Convenience Service Center in Xingqing district, the street renovation project focuses on two sections: The north side of Nantang Lane (from Minzu Street to Limin Street, spanning 610 meters) and Sanlin Lane (from Nantang Lane to Hualin Lane, spanning 120 meters), totaling 730 meters.
For Nantang Lane, the main improvements include renovating and repaving the pedestrian walkway, reinforcing and refurbishing walls, updating outdated facilities, and adding scenic installations and check-in spots along the route. The Sanlin Lane upgrades primarily involve pedestrian walkway paving and wall renovations.
As the final stretch of the Yinchuan-Xinjiang Railway leading to its terminus, Nantang Lane has witnessed the development and transformation of Yinchuan’s old town in Ningxia. This unique renovation aims to further improve urban infrastructure, refine the city’s street appearance, enhance the quality of road landscapes, and improve the travel and living environment for residents, while also reviving the cultural essence of the city.
