On the occasion of the Chinese Lantern Festival in the Year of the Snake, the Ningxia Social Welfare Institute organized a cultural event dedicated to showing its care for the disabled on February 11. Leaders from the CPPCC Ningxia Hui autonomous region attended the event and delivered a speech. Additionally, CPPCC members of Ningxia donated gifts to the Institute, expressing their solidarity and compassion towards those in need.
The event focused on the theme of Chinese New Year, bringing New Year blessings and wonderful cultural activities to special groups and staff members. The Ningxia Cultural Center organized a stellar team of cultural volunteers to arrange an artistic performance with a distinct theme and festive atmosphere. The performance integrated dance, singing, instrumental performance, recitation and other forms of artistic show, bringing high-quality cultural experiences to the local community.
Organized by the Ningxia Library, the lantern riddle guessing activity integrated New Year elements with the theme of friendship and mutual assistance. Participants from the Institute felt the charm of traditional culture in the collision of wisdom. In the lantern making area, dedicated staff and volunteers assisted rehabilitators in making and hanging lanterns, creating a warm festive atmosphere. These lanterns not only lit up the area with hope and reunion but also passed on heartfelt New Year blessings. In the stone tablet experience zone, participants immersed themselves in the magic and beauty of stone tablet techniques, experiencing the unique charm of traditional culture.
Under the guidance of intangible cultural heritage inheritor Li Jian, participants at the paper-cutting experience area crafted intricate artworks themed around "the Year of the Snake" and "Spring Festival". Through active engagement in printmaking, they not only enriched their cultural lives but also honed their hands-on skills and nurtured creativity, gradually bringing vibrant creations to life.
The Ningxia Calligraphy and Painting Institute of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party merged art with community service. Entrepreneurs, painters and calligraphers gathered together to participate in charitable donations and public painting and calligraphy activities. This collaborative effort not only shared the beauty of traditional culture but also fostered a sense of reunion and care within the community, touching the hearts of those at the Social Welfare Institute and reinforcing the bonds of the socialist family.
Ningxia Social Welfare Institute also prepared steaming glutinous rice balls to everyone, and the activity ended successfully in a warm, harmonious and joyful atmosphere. According to a spokesperson in charge of the Culture and Tourism Department of Ningxia, cultural activities were held directly at the grassroots, especially for the disabled. It not only built a stage for them to show and express themselves, but also opened a window for them to know better the world and keep in pace with the society.
In the future, more activities, such as lectures, artistic healing activities, public performances, and volunteer services will be carried out in social welfare institutions. They will also encourage disabled people to participate in intangible cultural heritage and traditional handicraft activities, enrich the supply of cultural products and services for isolated and disabled youth, guarantee their basic cultural rights and interests, create a social atmosphere for disabled group to participate in cultural activities and share the benefits of cultural achievements.
