The first bright fireball streaked across the sky over Helan Mountain in Ningxia Hui autonomous region at around 10 pm on Aug 12. Meteors appeared as expected, some resembling silver needles, while others exploded like fireballs, with an average of over 30 sightings in the early hours of Aug 13. Beneath the pristine skies of the Helan Mountains National Nature Reserve, the Milky Way stretched brilliantly across the horizon on the same night.
