As the autumn breeze sweeps across Shapotou Scenic Area in Zhongwei, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, the area turns into a flowing canvas marked by the Yellow River and Tengger Desert.
One rides on a sheepskin raft and drifts downstream along the Yellow River, which is as clear as a mirror and reflects the graded colors of the forest along the banks. As the sun sets, one can watch birds soaring across the river bathed in orange and red, and listen to the gentle sound of paddles.
Within the area, trees such as date trees, pine trees and poplars are gradually donning veils of deep red and yellow, painting a colorful canvas with the distant sandy mountains.
After an autumn rain, Shapotou is enveloped by fog and immersed in poetic vibes, with raindrops carrying the desert's grit and the sweet scent of grasses. From the heights, one sees the desert standing still as ocean waves, the Yellow River flowing like a ribbon, and the gold leaves gleaming as if scattered stars.
As night falls, the autumn skies over Shapotou turn into a stargazer's paradise, where countless shooting stars invite visitors to make a wish.
