The contemporary dance piece "Rock Talk" from the Ningxia Hui autonomous region has won the 14th China Dance Lotus Award for Chinese Contemporary Dance, marking a milestone in the region's dance performance.

The Lotus Award is a national dance award jointly organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Dancers Association. Held every two years, the award is considered the most authoritative "expert award" in Chinese dance.

This year's contemporary dance competition drew hundreds of entries from 28 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. After several rounds of review, 16 works moved on to the final stage, with only three ultimately receiving the Lotus Award.

"Rock Talk" was created and performed by Yinchuan High School. The piece draws its main inspiration from the rock paintings of the Helan Mountains in Ningxia. Through highly expressive body language, it vividly depicts the life and struggles of ancient people coexisting with harsh natural environments. The performance achieves a deep fusion of regional cultural symbols and modern artistic expression.
