Global youth dive into cultural charm of Guyuan

The group attending this year's "Global Youth Lens on Ningxia" visited Guyuan in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region from July 18 to 20, to explore the local color and culture.

At the Wei Brick Carving Base, fifth-generation inheritors Wei Yalong and Gao Yinyan explained to the assembly of young people from around the world the origins of brick carving over the past century, as well as the ancient techniques of soft and hard carving.

The guests followed the inheritors of intangible cultural heritage to hold knives and carve patterns, experiencing the joy and difficulty of brick carving for themselves.

At Longde county's Old Alley Scenic Area, Yang Guoquan, a successor of paper-cutting heritage, showcased his skills for the global youths. In just a few minutes, tiny red butterfly rings were placed on their fingers.

At night as they passed by the Old County Government Square, the group was treated to the sight of local people dancing and promptly joined them. They also encountered dazzling lanterns in the darkness of night.
