The popular movie Once Upon a Time in the Middle East has been released in China. Portions of the film were shot in the Shitanjing old mining area in Shizuishan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region.

The former old mining area has been successfully transformed into an industrial, cultural, tourism, film and television town, attracting many film and television crews looking for places to shoot their movies.

The area retains all the schools, hospitals, shops, and train stations from the 1960s to the 1990s. Fading slogans and vintage signs are authentic, making them an excellent filming location for vintage and nostalgic films.

Take a green train ride into the mining area, check out these old streets and residential houses that look dilapidated but are full of stories, and feel the new vitality of the area.
