In the Qingtongxia wine production area on the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, more young consumers are being captivated by the latest wine trends.
In the past two years, local wineries have jumped out of the comfort zone of traditional red wine and tried new fruit-flavored drinks. For example, Qingyun Estate has launched a unique tea wine and a refreshing apple wine, while Chateau Huahao has released some coffee-flavored wine.
Lin Wei from Yinchuan of Ningxia and her friends drove to the Pigeon Mountain Wine Culture Tourism Town in Ningxia's Qingtongxia on Aug 14, where she decided to order one of these innovative wines at the tourist service center.
"The first sip came with the scent of honey and a floral fragrance. It felt like having a sunshine-flavored sweet drink," said Lin.
"The best brewing method is not to forcefully modify the original flavor of the land, but to conform to the original flavor endowed by the Helan Mountains and Yellow River, and then inject new and innovative ideas into that," said Liang Ning, a winemaker from Sweet Dew Vineyard.
