BIT hosts 2024 International Culture Festival

The BIT Summer International Culture Festival was held in the central garden square of the Zhongguancun Campus of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on May 31. 

Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BIT Committee and Assistant President Yan Yan, along with heads of the Office of International Affairs, the Office of International Students, and related functional departments and professional colleges, gathered together with students from over 130 countries and regions to enjoy the cultural feast.

The festival began with a multinational cultural performance, starting with a dance titled "Aspiring Youth" by students of BIT's affiliated primary school.

Dressed in hanfu, the traditional attire of the Han ethnic group, the young dancers performed modern dance moves to the clear and melodious recitation of ancient texts by children's voices, showcasing the charm of traditional Chinese culture. 

Then, various international performances took the stage, elevating the excitement.

Songs, dances, martial arts, Peking opera ... One act after another, these performances blend tradition with modernity, and the classical with fashionable, creating a strong artistic merger of Chinese and foreign cultures, and bringing great happiness to the participants and the audience.

International students from over 60 countries also set up 58 cultural booths themed around their respective national and ethnic characteristics, attracting nearly 10,000 teachers, students, and visitors. There were folk exhibitions, food tastings and more.

The BIT passport remained popular as always, with people shuttling between the booths, embarking on a global journey to collect exclusive stamps from various countries, and participate in games to visit each country, check-in for souvenirs and exchange for gifts.

As night fell and the lanterns were lit, a special evening performance dazzled the audience. 

The powerful and majestic lion dance by Malaysian students ignited the entire event. From the gentle Southeast Asia to the fiery Pacific, from mesmerizing international songs to brilliant traditional dances, the stage was filled with elegant costumes and brilliant lights.
