According to data released by Essential Science Indicators (ESI) on Thursday, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT)'s engineering program has entered ESI global top 0.01 percent.
BIT adheres to the principle of "top-notch engineering, high-quality sciences, exquisite humanities, and emerging medical engineering" in discipline construction, strengthening the development of its fundamental disciplines, emerging disciplines and interdisciplinary studies. It focuses on building a green discipline development system, continuously improving the overall layout of disciplines that mutually promote and develop strengths and specialties, traditions and emerging fields, applications and fundamentals, as well as comprehensive and interdisciplinary studies.
The university's academic level and international influence continue to maintain a high development trend. Six disciplines including Weapon Science and Technology, Information and Communication Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Management Science and Engineering have entered the top 3 percent of the Best Chinese Subjects Ranking by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, with 20 disciplines entering the top 12 percent. Twelve disciplines have entered the top 1 percent in ESI globally, with Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, and Computer Science entering the top 0.1 percent, and Engineering ranking in the top 0.01 percent.
In 2024, the school's average position in the top four global university rankings is 212th, marking a rise of 328 places in nearly six years, positioning the university at the forefront of all universities participating in the "Double First-Class" initiative.
The latest data signifies that BIT's research level and influence in the field of engineering have reached the world's top tier, marking a new breakthrough for the university in accelerating the development of a world-class university.
