A high-level delegation from Guang'an city, Sichuan province visits Beijing Institute of Technology.
Zhang Tong, secretary of the CPC Guang'an Municipal Committee, led a delegation to visit Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on Feb 18 for exchanges.
During the meeting, members of the delegation and leaders of BIT engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the establishment of Guang'an University of Science and Technology.
Zhang expressed his gratitude to BIT for the support and assistance it has provided to Guang'an over the years.
Zhang said that having an undergraduate college has been a long-standing goal for Guang'an city. Since Guang'an University of Science and Technology was included in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for higher education institutions in Sichuan province last year, the provincial government has been promoting its establishment. The construction work has received wide support and participation from various sectors of society, including BIT.
Zhang hoped that BIT could provide more support to the construction of Guang'an University of Science and Technology in areas such as sending leading experts in specific disciplines to Guang'an, training teaching and research teams, and collaborating in talent development, to help the university promote greater development in higher education in western China.
BIT's president Jiang Lan warmly welcomed Zhang and his delegation for their visit, and spoke of recent developments at BIT.
Jiang said that BIT has been attaching great importance to the support and construction work of the Guang'an University of Science and Technology and will further leverage its own strengths to continuously deepen and solidify these efforts.
He said BIT will further align with the cooperation needs of Guang'an University of Science and Technology, increase support for faculty in leading disciplines, coordinate relevant BIT resources, host visits by outstanding teachers from Guang'an, accelerate joint talent development initiatives and support the advancement of "professional + AI" collaborations to promote the deep integration of professional education and artificial intelligence.
