The 2025 Openatom Developers Conference was held in Beijing on Nov 21, announcing that a collaborative case study by Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and Baidu PaddlePaddle was selected for the 2025 Open Source Education Collection for Universities.
Based on the National AI Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform, the case study focuses on "open source collaboration" and "industry-education integration". By deeply integrating theoretical teaching with real-world industry challenges, it effectively bridges the gap between theory and practice and connects campus with industry.
In terms of open source contributions, students successfully merged 282 pull requests into the PaddlePaddle core repository, covering key areas such as API testing, kernel optimization, and documentation standards. Notably, 60 percent of the participating students have secured full-time positions through Baidu's campus recruitment, achieving seamless transitions from academia to industry and setting a new standard for cultivating AI talent.
Looking ahead, BIT plans to further deepen its strategic cooperation with leading companies like Baidu, continuously improving the industry-education integration mechanism. This will enhance the alignment of education, talent, industry, and innovation chains, contributing more "BIT wisdom" to cultivating high-level AI talent.
