Pioneering excellence: Celebrating high-quality development at BIT series VI

In January 2026, the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) will convene its 16th Party congress. Leading up to this event, a series of reports will showcase the university's achievements since its 15th Party congress in 2021.

In recent years, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has strategically expanded its global presence, establishing partnerships with over 400 universities and research institutions across 81 countries and regions in the world. The university's focus on key areas such as Southern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Latin America has resulted in a resilient global network of high-quality partnerships.

BIT's international collaboration efforts have significantly enhanced education, technology, and talent development. The university has launched the BIT-BMSTU Joint School and advanced the construction of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. Additionally, the establishment of the School of Global Governance and the accreditation of over 4,000 international students have further increased BIT's global influence.

In October 2025, BIT hosted its "Global Partner Week" at the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute in Jiaxing, Jiangsu province, attracting participants from 49 overseas universities and research institutions across 31 countries. The event resulted in several key initiatives, including the establishment of overseas offices with the University of Dubai, the founding of the Global University Alliance for Outer Space Policy and Law Education, and the inauguration of the China-Uzbekistan Joint Laboratory for Intelligent Electric Vehicles.

BIT has strengthened its international collaborations with European universities such as the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, the University of Edinburgh, and Queen's University Belfast. In the Middle East, BIT has partnered with Khalifa University and the University of Dubai to establish strategic footholds. In Central Asia, BIT has collaborated with Uzbekistan's Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers on intelligent vehicle research. In Latin America, partnerships with the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Cuba's Immunoassay Center have marked significant breakthroughs.

The Shenzhen MSU-BIT University has become a leading Sino-Russian educational institution, with a rapidly growing student body and a robust curriculum. The university has also excelled in Sino-Russian scientific research, with numerous joint laboratories and research projects contributing to technological innovation and industry advancement.

BIT has also focused on global governance education, offering programs that allow students to engage with international organizations like the United Nations. The establishment of the School of Global Governance and partnerships with over 60 international organizations underscore BIT's commitment to contributing to global governance and sustainable development.

The university's efforts in cultivating international talent have resulted in significant achievements, including high publication rates in top-tier journals and numerous awards in international competitions. BIT's comprehensive English-language programs and international exchanges ensure that students are well-prepared to thrive on the global stage.
