Shandong Port Group (SPG) held a commencement ceremony for a project to reconstruct and increase capacity at Weihai Port in Weihai, Shandong province on May 27.

Huo Gaoyuan, Party secretary and chairman of the SPG board, Li Xuemin, Party secretary and chairman of the board of Railway No 10 Engineering Group, and officials from Weihai municipal government attended the ceremony.

The capacity expansion and reconstruction project at Weihai Port includes the expansion project of Weihai Qingwei container yard and the renovation project of No 16 and No 17 berths of Phase Ⅲ and Phase Ⅳ of Weihai Port. The project covers 126,400 square meters.

With the completion of the project, the expanded functions of container business types will improve the efficiency of container flow, widen the region of special business and provide a powerful guarantee for major capacity expansion of the port group.
