Cooperation with COSCO Shipping in managing and operating the container terminal joint venture project (phase II) in Khalifa Port, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

In February 2017, China COSCO Shipping Co Ltd and the Abu Dhabi Port Authority jointly established the ABU Dhabi Terminal Company, to construct and operate the Khalifa Port container terminal project, with a capacity of 2.5 million TEUs(twenty-foot equivalent units) per year.

The port launch ceremony was held in December 2018 and the 800-meter shoreline terminal was completed and put into trial operation in April 2019.

Qingdao Port -- owned and operated by Shandong Port Group (SPG) -- has since then completed its acquisition of COSCO's 30 percent stake in ABU Dhabi Terminal Company. Qingdao Port subsequently dispatched four staff to take charge and completed loading and unloading of 497,500 TEUs in 2019.
