The unveiling ceremony for Shandong Port Group Shanghai Co Ltd was held in Shanghai on June 21.

The city of Shanghai is recognized as an international economic, financial, trade, shipping, and scientific innovation center approved by the State Council. It is a place where national and global exchanges, bank's and carriers' headquarters, and financial institutions are located, making it China's largest economic center and a center for finance, trade, and shipping with global influence.

Placing a regional headquarters in Shanghai will help SPG to integrate into China's largest economic center and shipping trade financial innovation center. Relying on SPG's integrated development platform, the office will better tap into the unique geographical advantages of Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region. As such, greater efforts will be made to turn factors including finance, shipping, trade, and logistics that relate to SPG's international supply chain system into a reality in the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Taking advantage of such opportunities, SPG will rely on the preferential policies presented by the new section to create a significant platform for itself, serving the new development pattern and helping advance China's coordinated regional development. Furthermore, the group will also facilitate the interconnected development between Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomerations and provinces and cities along the Yangtze River basin, making efforts to integrate into and serve domestic and international circulation.

In his speech, SPG General Manager Li Fengli said that the establishment of an office in Shanghai is expected to play an overarching role in helping SPG build internationally advanced ports in five aspects. Relying on the preferential policies brought about by Lin-gang Special Area, SPG will step up efforts to build an international trade center, a platform for overseas investment, and a center for international exchange.

Li added that the aim is to improve the quality of comprehensive services and speed up progress in the construction of world-class sea ports. The group will work with a number of port operators and shipping companies in Shanghai to protect the smooth operation of industrial and supply chains in a bid to make contributions to helping build a new development pattern and serve national strategies.
