A report recounting one of the modern industrial success stories in the form of the rise of Shandong Port Group or SPG – one of the biggest ports operators in the world, based in Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province – was given by two of its star members of staff at the company's headquarters on July 13.

The presentation by SPG "Gold Medal Employee" Xu Zhenchao and "Role Model of the Times" Zhang Liangang was part of a series of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China or CPC.

Xu Zhenchao, drawing on his 40 years of work experience in the port business, said: "under the leadership of the Party, the dock workers have realized the transformation from being porters to being blue-collar, or even gold-collar workers."

"All the staff of SPG are dedicated to the construction of world-class marine ports for SPG," he added.

The automated container terminal operated by SPG's Qingdao Port is located on the south banks of the Qingdao Qianwan Port Area. Through the efforts made by the Liangang Innovation Team led by Zhang Liangang, an expert in automated container construction, Qingdao Port has consistently turned out one of the best track records for automated terminal handling.

Zhang, in his report, expressed his gratitude for the strong leadership of the Party, the power of the motherland and the trust and support from SPG.

The nearly three-hour lecture was reportedly wide-ranging and fascinating for the audience, exploring the work ethnics of the two role models and highlighting the inspiration to others that they provide.
