The production data from Shandong Port Group (SPG) show that the group's aggregated container throughput had reached 31.55 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) as of Dec 1. This has surpassed last year's total container volume of 31.47 million TEUs 30 days ahead of schedule, thus creating a new record.

SPG opened a total of 33 container routes during the first 11 months of this year, with its route number and density both the highest among ports in northern China. Thanks to the launch of many new routes since the beginning of this year, SPG has witnessed a 13 percent increase year-on-year in its transshipment container volume compared with the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the group has convinced shipping companies to add over 430 vessel calls to the United States and Europe. 

SPG's subsidiary Qingdao Port has worked with the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Huangdao customs to achieve the continuous improvement of the service chain and overall efficiency. 

In addition, the berth productivity of the Qingdao Qianwan Container Terminal has ranked first among Maersk Line's global port calls for six consecutive years. As Qingdao Port's "hot berthing" makes progress, the port has organized 379 pairs of hot berthing services since the beginning of this year, reducing the time spent by vessels at the port by 505 hours.
