The single-month container throughput at Bohai Bay Port of Shandong Port Group (SPG) broke the 50,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) mark for the first time in May, with an amount of 50,300 TEUs, up 8.13 percent year-on-year.

The single-month container throughput at Weifang port area has maintained above 40,000 TEUs for five consecutive months and the figure in May represented a year-on-year increase of 20.7 percent.

Since the beginning of this year, the Bohai Bay Port has beefed up efforts to expand its container market by increasing the port's efficiency. Shipping companies operating at the port also added an additional shipping capacity of more than 35,000 metric tons.

The port has given top priority to clients' needs and continues to improve its service quality. A series of measures have been taken to ensure smooth transportation and guarantee production during the COVID-19 pandemic.
