The launching ceremony for the new crude oil pipeline, which is operated by Shandong Port Group (SPG), was held at Yantai Port on July 4.

As a key project both in Shandong province and Yantai, it is also one of the major projects of SPG in 2022. The project has a length of more than 370 kilometers, and an annual transmission capacity of 20 million metric tons. The crude oil pipeline took 17 months to finish after overcoming numerous geological obstacles and being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and was finally completed on May 28. Capable of heating and insulating, the pipeline facilitates the unloading, storage and transmission of oil products with higher efficiency and less oil losses during the transport process.

The crude transmission capacity of Yantai Port will be lifted to 40 million tons per year from the previous 20 million tons, which will lay a solid foundation for Yantai Port to accelerate the construction of an important energy import and export base in northern China, and is of great significance for SPG to further ensure the security of energy supply.
