SPG's Qingdao Port assures smooth operations ahead of Typhoon Hinnamnor's arrival
On Sept 4, when the super typhoon Hinnamnor threatened China's eastern coastline areas and offshore activities, Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group (SPG) launched a flurry of initiatives to assist its clients in fending off Hinnamnor, and the initiatives were well-received.
The Maersk Amazon tanker arrived at the Qingdao Qianwan Container Terminal (QQCT) in Qingdao, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, on the evening of Sept 4. In order for the tanker to complete its tasks and leave the berth without incident before Typhoon Hinnamnor arrived, QQCT created a work plan to race with the typhoon. This helped save losses for the shipping company, which may have been suspended for at least 10 hours due to the typhoon.
A new record was set for Maersk's African routes when QQCT successfully completed the Maersk Amazon operation assignment, processing 4,355 transfers in just 19 hours. This improved work efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
