The first UAE China Tyre and Auto Parts Expo, which was sponsored by Shandong Port Group (SPG), was held in Sharjah, the third-most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from Nov 24 to 26, and more than 40 domestic well-known tyre and auto parts enterprises were in attendance.

The expo was one of the 20 key electromechanical overseas exhibitions approved by the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce this year, and is expected to help Chinese tyre and auto parts enterprises expand their overseas markets in the Middle East and Africa, helping China quicken efforts to foster a new pattern of development.

At the opening ceremony of the expo, government officials from China and the UAE delivered speeches via an online platform, and officials from Guangrao county in Shandong province introduced the development of the county's tyre industry.

The UAE Tyre and Auto Parts Public Overseas Warehouse is a key overseas warehouse project in Shandong. Since the launch of the project in June this year, SPG has constructed three public overseas warehouses and bonded warehouses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Qingdao. In November, a new container route jointly launched by SPG and the Abu Dhabi Port Group was put into operation, which links Qingdao Port in Shandong and Khalifa Port in the UAE. The construction of the overseas warehouses and the opening of the new container route are expected to help SPG establish a whole supply chain business model.

The expo was intended to serve as a promotional platform for economic and trade cooperation between China and the UAE, and is expected to further deepen bilateral cooperation and economic ties between the two sides, according to the chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
