March 12. Qingdao Port of SPG achieved average efficiency of 52.7 drops of twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per hour for single crane, setting a new world record for the eighth time.
July 3. SPG signed an equity transfer contract with Malaysia's Sime Darby Group in Weifeng, which is an important move for SPG to achieve integrated development of its ports.
July 28. The 2022 Shandong Port Trading Conference kicked off in Qingdao. With the theme of "take a leading position through ports to embark on a new journey", the event aims to build a platform for industry exchanges and discuss new strategies and new tasks for ensuring an unimpeded global supply chain amid the post-pandemic era. This will help serve the establishment of a new development pattern and promote global economic development.
On Sept 27. SPG announced that it independently developed the A-TOS intelligent control system, which made breakthroughs in key and core technologies. The new system helped the port achieve an average efficiency of 67.76 TEU moves per hour, a 14.2 percent increase in efficiency, and a new world record for the ninth time.
On Dec 13. The Science and Technology Award of China Port Association winners were announced, and SPG received multiple honors, including a special award, three first prizes, 13 second prizes and 15 third prizes, which is the most for the company, and lead China.
On Dec 30. The cargo throughput of SPG exceeded 1.6 billion metric tons, a 6.4 percent year-on-year increase, which was the most in the world. The port group handled a total container throughput of 37 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), an 8.7 percent year-on-year, which was the third most in the world. The outstanding performance is largely due to SPG's efforts to build itself into an international shipping hub in Northeast Asia and a world-class seaports operator.
