Shandong Port Group (SPG) held a ceremony for the operation and start of port-industry-city integration projects in Binzhou on April 20.

During the event, a total of 15 projects, which have either been completed, resumed construction or are going to start construction, received a total investment of 15.23 billion yuan ($2.2 billion).

Since its establishment on Aug 6, 2019, SPG has sped up the construction of a world-class sea port. Thanks to the strong support of Binzhou and other prefecture-level cities, SPG's port integration reform has posted marked progress, with port performance continuing to improve, showing steady and positive growth. The group has been committed to integrating into and serving Binzhou by beefing up efforts to make investment in key projects, as well as implementing new business models covering modern logistics, finance, and trade to become a "golden partner" for Binzhou's economic growth.

Over the years, the CPC Binzhou municipal committee and the Binzhou municipal government have fostered an enabling development environment and unveiled an array of policies to advance port growth, as well as the deep integration of ports, cities, and industry. Under the strong support of the CPC Binzhou municipal committee and the Binzhou municipal government, as well as by drawing strength from SPG's port integration, Binzhou Port has grown rapidly. Its cargo throughput has doubled and the construction of key projects have progressed rapidly.

The operation, expansion, and start of projects cover areas like ports, oil storage tanks, oil pipelines, and waterway channels. Three of the projects completed in 2022 and 12 have either already started construction or are about to begin construction. Taking advantage of this opportunity, SPG plans to quicken the integration of port areas, industrial parks, and urban areas, further amplifying the role of ports in underpinning regional economic development. It aims to contribute to the construction of a prosperous Binzhou and make greater contributions to helping Shandong build itself into a modern and strong socialist province in the new era.
