The 2023 "Shandong Port Cup" Fairy Coast Peninsula City Regatta kicked off on June 19 in the Qingdao International Cruise Terminal.

Jointly organized by the Qingdao Municipal Sports Bureau and Shandong Port Group (SPG), the event is aimed at facilitating economic and trade exchanges between the seven cities on the Shandong Peninsula, promoting sailing, connecting cultural and tourism resources of coastal cities in Shandong, and boosting the integrated development of the Jiaodong Economic Circle through sports.

SPG has over the years been leveraging sporting events to better serve the development of cities as part of efforts to bolster port-industry-city integration.

Looking ahead, SPG will further deepen exchanges and cooperation with various partners to expand port-industry-city cooperation, gather resources of Shandong Peninsula's urban clusters, enhance its overall competitiveness as well as hasten efforts to become a world-class sea port and enterprise.

According to port officials, the 840-nautical-mile journey will last 18 days and pass through Qingdao, Weifang, Yantai, Weihai, Rizhao, as well as other cities. Seven teams comprising over 100 contestants are competing in the event.
