The 400,000 DWT terminal of the Qingdao Port Dongjiakou port area which is operated by Shandong Port Group (SPG) broke the world iron ore handling record for the 26th time on July 2.

The feat was accomplished during the handling operations of the vessel Yuan Yi Hai, which saw the shore unloader register an average unloading rate of 3,057 tons per hour.

Since its founding on Aug 6, 2019, SPG has been keenly focusing on the construction of smart and green ports. Qingdao Port, the key driver of SPG's development, has also focused on accelerating its transformation into a world-class smart and green port while introducing new technologies and automation to newly built terminals.

As a significant terminal for Qingdao Port's dry bulk cargo handling, the 400,000 DWT terminal of Dongjiakou port area is equipped with four state-of-the-art shore unloaders and a landside storage site covering an area of three million square meters.
