A seminar about Shandong Port Group's (SPG) efforts to serve the high-quality development of Xinjiang kicked off in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on Aug 8.

Themed "Yellow River Connecting Land and Sea, Shandong and Xinjiang Writing A New Chapter", the event was attended by over 80 representatives from governments, customs, railways and enterprises, who shared their views on the building of the East-West logistics corridor.

The event saw the signing of strategic cooperation agreements between Shandong Port Logistics Group, Xinjiang Tianshun Supply Chain Co Ltd, China Railway United International Container Co Ltd and Xinjiang Luxin Fengchi International Logistics Group.

Over the years, SPG has actively served the socio-economic development of Xinjiang and maintained a strong partnership with Xinjiang. In 1996, Qingdao Port set up an office in Xinjiang, with the aim of becoming a shipping outlet for the delivery of goods in Xinjiang. In 2014, Qingdao Port International Logistics Co Ltd successfully launched a freight train line connecting Qingdao Port and Xinjiang to offer end-to-end logistics services for enterprises in Xinjiang. In 2021, the Shandong Port Logistics Group Xinjiang Company was founded to facilitate the land-sea logistics growth of Xinjiang.

SPG is currently planning to advance the building of a "first-rate integrated supply chain service system based on port", further enhance the westbound international freight train logistics corridor and the eastbound multimodal transport logistics corridor.
