The oil loading arm of Qingdao Port's intelligent docking system for imported oil was put into operation on Dec 6.

Oil loading arms, thanks to their reliability, have been the preferred choice for domestic crude oil terminals with a capacity of more than 300,000 metric tons.

With the increase in demand for production efficiency and the need for smart port construction, intelligent docking of the imported oil transfer arms is of great significance to the unmanned transformation and upgrading of large oil terminals.

The new system requires only one person to perform remote online monitoring. In the past, two to three people were required for the manual operation.

The oil loading arms have also eliminated the safety hazards caused by hazardous chemical operations and improved operating efficiency by more than 30 percent.

While ensuring safe operation and improving work quality and efficiency, the system also meets the development needs of energy conservation and emission reduction. It is estimated that each oil transfer arm can save an average of 3 kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
