Shandong Port Group's (SPG) first promotional conference on integrated supply chain services for 2024 was held on Jan 25 in Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The next day, SPG held another promotional integrated supply chain conference in Taiyuan, Shanxi province. This was a significant step for SPG in the implementation of the Yellow River strategy, connecting the eastern and western logistics corridors, and safeguarding and streamlining China's supply and industrial chains.

Ports are crucial to economic development, playing a vital role in promoting global cooperation in supply and industrial chains. Over the years, SPG has striven to build platforms across regions, and it is currently working to build a port-centered integrated supply chain service system.

Xi'an, the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and a significant part of the Belt and Road Initiative, has always been one of SPG's most important partners. Shandong, the only coastal province along the Yellow River basin and a gateway to the basin, is a significant shipping outlet for Shaanxi. Over the years, Shandong and Shaanxi have established a close partnership, as 60 percent of Shaanxi's container exports and 67 percent of its container imports are handled via SPG.

Shanxi is located in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, coordinating coastal and inland areas. Over the years, Shandong has maintained strong cooperation with Shanxi and serves as a gateway for Shanxi's bulk commodities, with 60 percent of iron ore imports shipped to Shanxi via SPG. In 2023, SPG transported over 40 million metric tons of iron ore to Shanxi.

Moving ahead, SPG will accelerate its efforts to grow from a single port operator to an integrated supply chain service provider, build a world-class port cluster, cultivate core competitiveness, and turn into a "double world-class" company. Efforts will be made to comprehensively integrate into, serve and galvanize the socio-economic development of Shaanxi and Shanxi in order to become a "golden partner" for enterprises and customers in the two provinces.
