Shandong Port Group (SPG) held the integrated supply chain service·China-South Korea Daily Delivery promotion conference and the unveiling ceremony for its Seoul-based representative office in the Republic of Korea (ROK) on March 27, strengthening its international presence and enhancing brand visibility.

Additionally, the move will inject strong impetus into SPG's efforts to build a world-class port cluster in Shandong, become a "double-first" class enterprise and make it more competitive.

Ports are transport hubs and windows connecting the world, crucial pillars that serve national strategies and lead to the formation of new development paradigms, as well as significant boons to international economic and trade cooperation and regional economic development.

SPG is located at the intersection of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. It is in an ideal location to forge connections with the ROK, as it is the nearest Chinese port to the country, a bridgehead in trade connectivity between Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership member states and South Korea, as well as a gateway to the Yellow River Basin.

Over the years, SPG has maintained close ties with the ROK. In 2005, SPG's Yantai Port established sister port relations with Incheon Port. SPG's Qingdao Port and Weihai Port established sister port relations with Ports of Busan and Pyeongtaek in 2012 and 2016, respectively. Recent years have seen deeper bilateral collaboration. SPG and ROK have carried out "four-port connectivity" between Weihai and Incheon, realizing seamless linkage and efficient transshipment of sea ports, inland ports and airports. This has injected strong impetus into China-ROK economic and trade cooperation. In addition, SPG has carried out practical and fruitful cooperation with ROK's ports and enterprises in areas like shipping service operation and management and overseas warehouse construction, emerging as a crucial window and platform for the economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.

The launch of the Seoul-based representative office in the ROK will strengthen direct shipping services between Shandong and ROK, help more Chinese-made products be exported to the ROK and beyond, and stabilize global industrial and supply chains.
