The unveiling ceremony for the industry-based study tour base at the Qingdao Port Fully Automated Container Terminal of Shandong Port Group (SPG) was held on May 6 in Qingdao, dubbed the first automated port technology-themed educational tourist destination among China's coastal ports.

The base combines factors such as port technology and marine science to exhibit the development of smart ports. It conveys port culture, which aims to boost the high-quality development of marine science-based academic tours for young people. It also promotes the integration of port culture with the unique cultural and tourism characteristics of Qingdao, and advances the integration of the port industry with the city.

Ports are fundamental and pivotal facilities, as well as essential pillars for economic development. Over the past four years since its establishment, SPG has been closely monitoring public needs and has developed culture-themed tourism as a significant tool for port transformation and upgrading.

SPG, leveraging its unique industrial advantages and excellent resources provided by the ports, has been at the forefront of developing the cultural and tourism industry along the coast. It has gradually created an industrial development pattern featuring cruise ship, culture and tourism, and old-age care.

Looking ahead, SPG is poised to make even greater strides. It is set to continue to leverage science and technology, manufacturing, energy, Internet, and other sectors. SPG will focus on educational tourism and develop interdisciplinary research and education products centered around the core functions of study tours, popular science education, and learning through fun, in a bid to contribute to the high-quality development of well-rounded education.
