Board members of Shandong Port Group (SPG) recently attended the 4th APEC Green Port Development Forum hosted by APEC Port Services Network, which kicked off on June 4. They joined representatives from related authorities, international organizations, research institutions, and enterprises across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss green development pathways for the port industry.

Since its establishment, SPG has prioritized the pivotal role of foundational and hub facilities in bolstering economic development. By enhancing its hub functions and ensuring seamless logistics, the group has developed 346 global maritime routes and established 50 inland ports and 100 rail lines, extending its reach in all directions. Its cargo volume has exceeded 1.7 billion metric tons, while its container volume has surpassed 40 million 20-foot equivalent units (TEU), ranking first and second globally, respectively.

Furthermore, SPG leverages its integrated advantages in port operations, finance, trade, logistics, and shipping to create a one-stop comprehensive service model, evolving from a "single port operator" to a "supply chain comprehensive service provider".

Emphasizing low-carbon initiatives and promoting transformation, the group aims to become an internationally-leading smart green port. It spearheaded the development of China's first near-zero carbon port area construction standards and built the world's first smart eco-terminal employing hydrogen energy and 5G technology, earning the Asia-Pacific Green Port title multiple times.

At the forum, SPG's commitment to innovation and its proactive efforts in promoting green port construction were highly praised by attending guests.
