Shandong Port Science and Technology Group, drawing on its comprehensive port supply chain service system, has recently secured its inaugural international project — the enhancement of the yard visualization system of at Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) in Sri Lanka.

Standing as one of South Asia's major hub ports, CICT boasts an annual container throughput surpassing 3 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). Since 2014, CICT has integrated advanced technologies such as the Global Navigation Satellite System and Geographic Information System to maintain high standards of safety, environmental protection, and efficiency. Given the escalating need for intelligent port enhancements, the upgrade and overhaul of the CICT positioning system emerged as paramount priorities.

Upon establishing contact with CICT, Shandong Port Science and Technology Group promptly mobilized, assembling a dedicated project team. Engaging in extensive online dialogues, the team honed in on critical challenges within the CICT positioning system upgrade, rapidly developing a tailored solution for the yard visualization system. This bespoke approach garnered high praise from the Sri Lankan client. The innovative solution not only ensures container handling safety but also aids operators in dynamically adjusting equipment and optimizing scheduling. Projections suggest a 10 percent boost in operational efficiency post-implementation.
