A conference on the development of automotive logistics, which was co-hosted by China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and Shandong Port Group (SPG), kicked off in Yantai on July 16, attracting officials and industry elites from across the country to share new cooperation opportunities in the development of automotive logistics.

The Comprehensive Evaluation Report of World-Class Ports (2024) was released at the conference. The report, jointly published by China Economic Information Service and the China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, evaluated the individual indicators and overall performance of 34 ports worldwide. Qingdao Port, a subsidiary of SPG, along with Ningbo Zhoushan Port in Zhejiang province, Shenzhen Port in Guangdong province, and Busan Port in South Korea ranked among the top ports.

Meanwhile, Yantai Port's ro-ro terminal for commodity vehicles was featured as a strong example of a world-class specialized terminal, marking the second time Yantai Port has received the honor.

The event also witnessed the launch of the construction of a distribution base for used cars in northern China at Yantai Port, which is expected to inject strong impetus into the port's commercial automobile ro-ro business.

Over the past five years, SPG has invested over 30 billion yuan ($4.13 billion) in Yantai and attracted 3 billion yuan from outside the province. The cargo throughput of Yantai Port ranks among the top 10 global coastal ports, strengthening the integration between the city and the port.

In the future, SPG will enhance its advantages as a hub based on supply chains by improving corporate competitiveness with integrated services and join hands with partners to build an ecosystem of ports, opening up a new chapter for win-win collaboration.
