Yantai Port Automobile Terminal Branch has recently received the Certificate of Carbon Neutrality from China Classification Society Certification, making it the first ro-ro (roll-on/roll-off) terminal in Shandong to achieve this distinction. The feat is a testament to Yantai Port's commitment to green and low-carbon development.

Since its establishment on Aug 6, 2019, Shandong Port Group (SPG) has prioritized green port development, aiming to build an internationally advanced smart and green port as part of its ambition of developing five types of internationally advanced ports. Yantai Port of SPG, with a focus on environmental protection, has explored various renewable energy supply options and transitioned to a low-carbon energy structure. It has also developed a clean, low-carbon, intelligent, efficient, and green logistics transportation system, signifying a comprehensive effort to promote high-quality and sustainable development.

Boasting a specialized yard of 65,000 square meters and five dedicated ro-ro berths, the automobile terminal branch mainly engages in logistics services for domestic and foreign trade commercial vehicles, striving to advance automated operation and utilize multiple forms of clean energy. Through building a dedicated shore power system for vessels, the terminal has achieved self-sufficiency of clean energy, realizing the transition from "oil consumption" into "electricity consumption" for all transportation within the port. In the first six months of this year, the terminal has handled over 367,000 units, ranking third nationwide in overall handling volume, and third and first in foreign trade handling volume and international transshipment volume, respectively.
