With momentum from the port integration reform of the Shandong Port Group (SPG), Yantai Port's general cargo business has covered over 200 categories including wind power facilities, special equipment, and construction vehicles, making it a vanguard among China's coastal ports.

Since 2022, Yantai Port's company Penglai Port has a goal of becoming a main export port for wind power equipment in northern China and an important offshore wind power transfer port. This is in response to the rapid development needs of the local marine equipment industry. The past two years has seen the beginning of a one-stop cargo loading and shipping business model covering the full line of wind power industry value-chain products, including towers, blades, turbines, and relevant accessories.

Currently, Penglai Port serves more than 10 domestic wind power equipment clients and exports products to more than 20 countries and regions as far away as Italy and Brazil. During the first seven months of the year, the port handled 2.32 million metric tons of wind power equipment, up 161.6 percent year-on-year.
