A bulk carrier named Winning World from Guinea recently unloaded 183,000 metric tons of bauxite at Yantai Port of Shandong Port Group and carried 34,000 tons of engineering vehicles and construction materials on its return voyage to Africa.

This marks a significant milestone in the general cargo business of Yantai Port, with its annual outbound traffic on the China-Africa general cargo liner service surpassing three million tons for the first time since the service was launched in 2015.

As China's first port engaged in port construction projects in Africa, Yantai Port has delivered bulk commodities and consumer goods via the China-Africa two-way logistics corridor to over 20 African regions and countries, including Guinea, Tanzania, South Africa, and Namibia.

Since the launch of the China-Africa general cargo liner service in 2015, the port has handled more than 400 Africa-bound vessels, with outbound general cargo volume reaching nearly nine million tons. These accomplishments solidify Yantai Port's position as China's busiest port for trade connectivity with Africa.

In 2024, Yantai Port has established a liaison office in East Africa. Based on the efficient operation of the China-Africa general cargo liner service and Southeast Asia general cargo liner service, the port has also opened several new cargo services, with a shipping network encompassing 26 general cargo services to Asia, Africa, South and North America and Europe.

The annual maritime traffic of the general cargo liner services has surpassed 10 million tons. The strong growth momentum in the general cargo business has empowered Yantai Port to offer a "Chinese solution" for fostering the high-quality development of global general cargo logistics.
