The 400,000-metric-ton ore terminal located in the Dongjiakou port area of Qingdao Port, a subsidiary of Shandong Port Group (SPG), achieved a single-crane productivity of 3,167 tons per hour during an unloading task on Dec 24. 

This marks the 27th time that the terminal has set a world record for iron ore unloading efficiency, showcasing Qingdao Port's strong capabilities and leading position in dry bulk cargo unloading.

The ore carrier Pacific Warrior discharging iron ore at the terminal is an international transshipment vessel, measuring 361.9 meters long and 65 meters wide, with a capacity of 390,389 tons. It is the 421st 400,000-ton ore carrier to unload iron ore at the 400,000-ton ore terminal of the Dongjiakou port area. 

Insiders from the port revealed that the 400,000-ton ore terminal of the Dongjiakou port area commenced operation in 2009 and was the world's first 400,000-ton ore terminal of its kind. Backed by the automation of dry bulk terminals and the construction of digital warehouses, Qingdao Port has stepped up efforts to advance the international transshipment of iron ore. 

In 2024, the annual single-berth iron ore unloading volume at the 400,000-ton ore terminal exceeded 40 million tons, with the aggregate unloading volume surpassing 400 million tons. 

Qingdao Port is currently forging ahead with the development of its second 400,000-ton ore terminal of the Dongjiakou port area. Upon completion, Dongjiakou port area will operate two intelligent and digitalized 400,000-ton dry bulk terminals boasting the world's highest levels of automation and efficiency, best mixing degree.
